5 favourites in colour

I can’t believe how long it’s been since my last Five Favourites post! It just goes to show how fast time is going by without me even realizing it… It’s supposed to be spring soon, here in Cape Town; the season where flowers start to bloom and leaves seem to have that extra lush, green look that brightens our city once again. So in the name of spring, this is my 5 Favourites in green.

#3 – GREEN

Pistachio Macarons

I lurrrrrv macarons – someone put this on a shirt already!!! Give me any flavour, any time and there won’t be a crumb left after I’m finished! Also, I love pistachios… So no surprise, that my all time favourite macaron is the pistachio flavoured one because it is simply divine! I also adore the colour of them because you don’t find a lot of cakes in this pop of bright green.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil

I always have tea tree oil in my beauty stash. It helps with inflammation, blemishes, redness, insect bites or burns, the list goes on and on. The Tea Tree Oil range of products from The Body Shop is brilliant! It is all natural and it gives you that tingly feeling when you use it, as if you can feel it working its magic.

Johnson’s Face Care Oil Control Face Cream

A few weeks ago I was looking for an oil controlling face cream because my skin gets really oily halfway through the day. I came across this new line from Johnson & Johnson and bought it because it was really affordable. I’ve never used facial products from Johnson’s before so I was pleasantly surprised by this. It moisturizes the face but keeps oil at bay. Also, it smells so fresh and clean.

Bioderma Sebium Micellar Solution

Garnier recently launched their micellar solutions in South Africa and I immediately went out to grab a bottle because I’ve heard amazing things about it. I took the bottle for sensitive skin because the one for combination skin contains alcohol, and my skin reacts badly to any products that contain alcohol. After about two weeks of using it, I came to realize that it is just a makeup remover. It does nothing else to help my skin. So I got a bottle of the Bioderma Sebium H2O Solution. I used this a few years ago and completely loved it! It removes all traces of makeup and leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean. I would recommend this to anyone with combination skin – it is a miracle in a 250ml bottle!

Labello Pure & Natural Mint and Minerals

This is my most used Labello. It is super moisturizing and leaves your lips feeling soft and smooth long after the lip balm has been removed. It also has a lovely, fresh minty scent that is always a plus!

Thanks for reading another Five Favourites in Colour. What are some of your favourites in green?

Five favourites in Colour

Welcome to another 5 favourites in colour post!! When I gathered the goodies that I wanted to write about I realised that it was going to end up being more of a beauty post. But I wanted to share them none the less because I’ve been using some of these products for YEARS and really swear by them.

#2 – BLUE

My 5 favourites in BLUE

Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue

I have developed a bit of an obsession for perfume ever since my Aunt brought me those miniature bottles from Saudi. She used to add it to my birthday gifts as a girl, and I’ve been collecting them over the years. It was so special to me to have those small intricate glass gems that contained these different scents. When I grew up and started strolling through the perfume isles, Light Blue became my all time favourite perfume. I am not one who favours floral, sweet scents; so I really enjoy the ones that are citrusy and reminds me of a cool ocean breeze.

Nivea

Nivea products always remind me of my Mum. She’s been using their lotions ever since I can remember and when ever I get a wiff of their signature scent, I think of her. So naturally I’ve taken to their products too. I love the Soft Moisturising Cream because it is light, hydrating and smells clean and fresh. Their deodorants are also really good!

Dove Beauty Cream Bar

This soap is THE BEST! It is so gentle and effective. I have sensitive skin, so it can be difficult to find a product that doesn’t cause irritation or dry out my skin. I use this soap on my face and during those times when my skin just won’t behave, it helps to calm down any breakouts or blemishes. I have yet to come by a soap that offers this much moisturising properties while getting the job done too.

Dirty Works Eye Cream

Lately I have had some trouble with puffy circles under my eyes. About two months ago I was walking in Clicks, and I came across this eye cream from Dirty Works. The deciding factor on buying this product – besides the affordable price – was the light reflectors. It sounded like something that might work on my little problem so I grabbed it. I have to say that even though the packaging said everything I wanted to hear, I had my doubts on whether this would actually work for me. But it turned out to be one of my favourite purchases I’ve made this year. My eyes seem brighter and less tired which is exactly what I’ve been looking for, and did I mention the affordable price? (SCORE!!)

Nose Strips

I always, always, ALWAYS have a box of these in my bathroom. It is a fast and very effective way to unclog pores, and you can literally see the results – which is totally disgusting and at the same time, quite satisfying. I have tried different brands, but I am currently using these which are also very good.

5 favourites in Colour

This is my attempt at a blog series, and I am hoping that it will be as fun to read as it is to write. During these posts I will choose a colour and find 5 items – be it beauty products, stationary, home ware or just everyday meaningful things – to write about. So now that I’ve stated the obvious, lets jump right in:

#1 – BLACK

My 5 favourites in BLACK

My 5 favourites in BLACK

I’ve mentioned before that I love the colour black. There’s just something about it that soothes my soul and draws me in. To me black screams class and sophistication. Its the colour that I reach for whenever I don’t know what to wear – it comforts me. With that being said, these are my 5 favourites in black:

Eyeliner and Mascara

I love a good eyeliner and mascara. I’m constantly trying new brands to find the best of the bunch which gives me what I am looking for. It has to be long lasting, smudge proof and highly pigmented. Usually I stick with my trusted Rimmel eyeliner and Maybelline mascara because it offers me all of the before mentioned qualities, but I’ve been testing the waters with different products too. I am really enjoying L’oreal’s Manga Mascara and Bourjois Clubbing Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil.

Gigabyte Netbook

I don’t have a laptop of my own because I hate debt so I am saving up until I can afford to buy one myself – cash. But since I started blogging, I’ve been using my husband’s netbook which has been working out really well.

Hard drive

When it comes to movies, series, pictures and music, I am a collector (because that sounds less creepy than “hoarder”). I collect all my favourites and it makes me happy that I get to keep it all organized on one little device. Also, my favourite series at the moment – The Blacklist – is stored on it.

Mr. Price Home notebooks

When I planned on starting this blog I was really uninspired when it came to what I was going to write about. I thought that maybe if I got some notebooks to write down my thoughts, it would make the whole process easier. When I made this decision it was close to the end of the month so money was a bit tight. Great stationary can be pricey, but when I ended up in Mr Price Home my eyes immediately fell on these. I adored the design and the price was very friendly on the old purse strings. I keep the ‘my little black book’ in my handbag so that I can quickly jot down something when it pops into my head. I enjoy writing in them because this way I get to organize my highly overactive brain.

Black Pens

I love a good black pen; it makes the whole writing process that much more fun and productive. When I was studying I always needed to have a black pen to write with, and I would get annoyed if it wasn’t a good one. It may seem silly but for me something as simple as having a great pen can really increase my will to get my work done. So now, as a working gal (I cringed using that word but whatever!) I take my stationary bag filled to capacity, and on those days when I just can’t seem to get things done, I will pull one out and I will be thankful that at least my pen is awesome!

That’s my 5 favourites in Black and I am already looking forward to the next one. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it! Please feel free to leave a comment to let me know what you think.
